Environmental & Social Governance Programme
Brainnwave are part of the fabric of the UK and wider business community and as such aim to contribute to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
There are 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. We have picked 8 of them that we believe we can have a positive impact on, either via supply chain, processes or client work. The selected goals align with our company objectives and we have detailed them below along with how we currently or plan to align with them going forward. We hope to find clients, suppliers and processes that will allow us to bring those 9 remaining objectives into our plan too. This will be kept under review.
Good health and well-being
Brainnwave promotes both physical and mental-health and wellbeing through a number of workplace benefits. Uncapped holiday allowance and flexible working hours help employees preemptively address issues like burn-out. We actively avoid a culture of overtime, and we put measures into place to allow employees to find focus in their work, such as “Working Wednesdays” and efforts to keep disruptive meetings to a minimum.
Quality education
For staff with children in education, our flexible working at Brainnwave provides wiggle-room around parental commitments such as school runs and we aim to create a childcare-tolerant environment.
For staff, we encourage continuous professional development and make sure there is a budget available for education, conferences and learning opportunities. We also aim to build a Brainnwave Academy and incorporate further educational opportunities and training schemes into our onboarding and professional review processes.
Gender equality
Brainnwave actively promotes diversity in the workplace through accessible, carefully written job specs and recruitment processes. We make sure our communications across the board are gender balanced, and carefully considered. We aim to monitor diversity across several dimensions (not exclusively gender).
Brainnwave provides equal opportunities for women within working roles, and despite challenges with pushing quotas within such small staff numbers, we want to make sure that there are no barriers to promoting women into leadership roles.
We also aim to further gender equality across the industries through regular blogs and writings on the topic.
Decent work and economic growth
We believe in fair wages, equity in the workplace and we endeavour to make sure that there is a workplace which is accessible for those with disabilities.
We partner with academia and provide internship and growth opportunities as part of these initiatives.
Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Our platform Mosaic, is perfectly positioned to help companies enhance their work in many industrial sectors in pursuit of this goal. The Decision Intelligence platform makes use of data to provide insight which aims to help companies within areas such as research and development, and technological capability.
Reduced inequalities
Our inclusive and supportive workplace puts us in a strong position to help promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disabiltiy, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, economic or other status.
Responsible consumption and production
We are almost completely paper free and promote recycling and ethical consumption in our offices.
We aim to integrate sustainable reporting into our board updates wherever necessary and are working towards production of a regular carbon audit document.
Peace, justice and strong institutions
We intend to perform responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making irrespective of the level of decision making.
As our business expands, we will regularly review these goals, our sustainability practice and all associated documents to ensure we're doing all we can.
